Brian Mace, Arlington, TX
I grew up in Central Kansas, graduating from Hutchinson High School in 1985. I moved to the Dallas/Ft Worth area in the spring of 1987 with little more than a Toyota pickup could haul. A few jobs, and approximately 3 years of Junior College later I found myself working in the entertainment business doing stage lighting. This satisfied my vagabond heart a great deal, but there was still something else calling me, a calling that I didn’t hear correctly for several years.
I have been influenced by and gravitated towards a verity of mediums of art throughout my life. Including pottery, silver smithing, sculpture, computer graphics, music, and lighting. I have also been fascinated by a verity of other mediums throughout my life including glass for as long as I can remember.
I happened upon SiNaCa Studios in Ft Worth Texas in 2012 and was captivated immediately. I started taking private lessons very soon afterwards, and I can’t imagine a time that glass art will not be a part of my life.
Being a “lighting guy” for the bulk of my adult life, it was inevitable that glass, and light would collide in my life. The glass is already beautiful, but adding light takes it to another level. I am currently creating lamps, pendant lights, and small chandeliers. I am not sure where this will take me, but I am ready to continue enjoying the ride!
