LeGrande Jewelry & Leather, Montrose, CO
In December of 2005, Kristie and Duncan’s third son, Garrett LeGrande, was born with Medically Intractable Epilepsy, a form of Epilepsy that does not respond to medication. In July 2008, he underwent lifesaving surgery to remove 60% of the right side of his brain. If not for this surgery, his profound seizures would have robbed him of his ability to grow and learn.
Kristie, who was a practicing physical therapist, started to make jewelry as a way to stay home with Garrett. Creating hand knotted jewelry gave her the opportunity to share her story of Garrett and God’s faithfulness to their family. When refining and perfecting each piece, she feels it already belongs to someone. When they find it, she knows it will bring them joy and a smile. The people she meets along her journey have inspired and encouraged her to continue making these unique creations. She currently lives just outside Ridgway, Colorado with her husband and four children, after moving from Florida in 2004.
