Flo Totes, Charlotte, NC

I was taught to sew in my childhood by my mother and in school.

“Flo Totes” was born from a small “Journal Tote” I made to put a pen and journal to make notes. I wanted everyone to have one so as to encourage the lost diary.

Self taught as it is, I started quilting in 2004. Doubting myself, I took a one-and-one class with Marilyn Doheny in Tryon NC. I took a few pieces of my work and she told me “cut it up some more”. Oh boy, that is what I did and it was amazing.

Designing quilts for 10+ years, it is simple a joy to see someone’s expression when they acquire one.

In 2016 I received “The Best In Textile Award” at Matthews Alive.
