Rosa Chavez, born in Michoacan, Mexico, draws inspiration from the natural elements she experienced growing up, such as the sun, wind, water, and living organisms. These elements profoundly influence her art, which reflects her deep connection to nature. As a child, Rosa loved to collect flowers, leaves, and twigs, using them to create collages. This early fascination with nature’s beauty laid the foundation for her artistic journey.

Over her 30-year career, Rosa has explored various mediums, including charcoal, pencil, pastel, oil, and acrylics. Initially, her work featured romanticized European landscapes, inspired by her travels. However, a visit to the Great Lakes shifted her focus to the natural beauty of these regions, prompting a transition from oil to acrylics. Acrylics allow her to work quickly and maintain the flow of inspiration, giving her paintings a dynamic energy. Rosa and her husband, both artists, share a studio and a mutual passion for art and nature, often collaborating and critiquing each other’s work to foster growth and creativity.
