Kings Drive Art Walk Returns to Little Sugar Creek Greenway

October 30 & 30 Art Walk ends 17-month hiatus on sibling event to Festival in the Park

Kings Drive Art Walk (KDAW) will continue its tradition of combining arts and the outdoors on Saturday, October 30, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, October 31, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Little Sugar Creek Greenway along Kings Drive, near the Metropolitan in Midtown. The festival will feature fine arts for sale in numerous media, including paint and drawing; sculpture; pottery; and metal, stone, wood and glass works. More than 80 artists from across the region will participate in the Art Walk.

KDAW was founded by Festival in the Park, Charlotte’s popular fall event held in Freedom Park, a Charlotte tradition that started in 1964.

No admission is charged for the two-day, family-friendly Art Walk event. KDAW guests can choose from a variety of food vendors. As patrons stroll the Greenway, they will encounter performances by aerial dancers and acoustic musicians.

Parking is available in several lots and along neighborhood streets around Little Sugar Creek. The KDAW asks our visitors to refrain from parking at retail parking lots/decks and any of the parking decks near Carolinas Medical Center. Streets must remain open around CMC open to ensure passage of emergency vehicles.

Mecklenburg County Parks & Recreation serves as the host of the KDAW. Piedmont Natural Gas is the Green Sponsor of the event.

This project was made possible, in part, through our cultural partner, the Arts & Science Council, the N.C. Arts Council – a division of the Department of Cultural Resources – and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.

Festival in the Park is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Charlotte.
