I am a bower bird. I constantly collect objects for my “nests” – or in this case, my art. My pieces reflect my love of nature and the cycles we celebrate of birth and decay. I use found rusted bits, leaves and other ephemera and embed or sew these objects into my assemblages. Sometimes encaustic wax holds them together, sometimes joint compound and acrylic paint.

Another thing you will see in my art are finds of my family’s past. For example, I will mix parts of my grandmother’s original watercolors into my pieces. By putting them into my art, I am putting her into my art. We are collaborating in a way I wish we could have when she was alive. She is my inspiration, and I am grateful to carry on her legacy.
