Leif Erik Johansen is a self-taught artist from Asheville, NC. He has been creating art since he was a child. In lieu of an art degree he chose to travel the world and see first hand the many beautiful and exotic places that have inspired so many great artist throughout history.
After many years living a carefree vagabond lifestyle, His artistic expression began to bubble up and overflow out of Him like a geyser. At the ripe age of 42 he settled down in the mountains of western North Carolina to pursue a full-time career in the arts. Inspired by lowbrow and pop surrealism He creates work that is thought provoking, ironic and whimsical. He creates 2D mixed media acrylic based paintings and three dimensional paper cut light boxes.
