Andrew McCarn is a woodworker & artist based out of the small town of Lexington, N.C. He is the owner & operator of Carolina Grain Co.; a company whose mission is to provide families with heirloom quality goods for their home & kitchen. Each piece is handmade from beginning to end; offering true one-of-a-kind items that are made to last & to be passed on from generation to generation. Various hardwoods are use throughout the products, ranging from walnut & cherry to maple & sweet gum, most of which are sourced right from Lexington & the surrounding areas. When designing each item, simplicity is key; letting the wood speak for itself. Using the knots, grain & defects to its advantage, Andrew makes each piece to accentuate the natural beauty of the wood. After the item receives the final sanding, mineral oil is applied to achieve a food-safe finish. This allows the user to easily maintain the product & increase the longevity of each Carolina Grain Co. item in their home. Each Carolina Grain Co. piece is designed to be a tool, a statement & a story for friends & families of generations to come.
