Suwanee, GA
Linda Tong was born in Thailand, moved to USA in 1980 to further her education and graduated master degree in computer science. I came from Chiengmai, Thailand where the home of lacquerware, I am the 3rd generation in my family and been making lacquerware for 42 years. Linda married with Chat and has 2 daughters.
Most of my lacquerware has a wooden base, apply 4 coats of black lacquer to the wood. Some special pieces applied crushed eggshell or gold leaf inlay and hand-squeezed from cellophane paper tubes (shape like pastry tubes) to the objects and sealed after the paint is dried. Total time to make each piece of lacquerware takes about 3-4 months, depends on how big of the piece and how much details and how many colors that I designs on the work. Please come to see me, I demonstrate during the show.
