While spending time in Arizona I learned about my love for natural rocks and perused learning how to set them to be worn in a piece of jewelry. My husband is an artist and great with design elements, so he often will design a setting and then my challenge is to figure out how to put it all together.
We have enjoyed working together and have traveled across the country several times in our RV to hand pick our stones. The process of creation begins with sketching various drawings based on the shape, colors, and patterns of the central focus piece. Then experimenting with other materials and accent pieces, possibilities are taken into consideration for flow and balance to add complexity to the end result. Once the design structure comes together, texturing is explored until all options are considered. The completion process includes applying numerous tools to fabricate each piece, including metal smithing techniques and jewelry bench skills resulting in a unique piece of jewelry to be enjoyed.
