Tanya Murphy is a Multi-disciplinary Artist based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her work utilizes various media such as, alternative photography, encaustic painting, printmaking and collage processes.
Her inspirations are entangled in the philosophy of seeing beauty in the imperfect, impermanent, the passing of time, the old, forgotten, the life cycles in nature, nostalgic things and cultural history. Tanya enjoys traveling to photograph aged houses and shacks, historic trees, ancient rock formations, beached driftwoods and more. Her impressionist artworks expose her sense of universal, spiritual, and ancestral connections.
Tanya holds a BFA degree from Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, PA. She has had many commissions, honors and exhibitions. Her works are in many public and private collections. She has served the vast art community as Curator, Instructor, Gallery Director and Writer. She is a member of the Guild of Charlotte Artists, the Charlotte Art League, The Light Factory, Charlotte, NC and the National Conference of Artists, Detroit, MI Chapter.
