MamaDuck Art is the work of Beth Smith, a self-taught watercolor artist based in Matthews, North Carolina. Beth specializes in nature-inspired, realistic-leaning paintings, focusing primarily on animals and birds with a few flowers and landscapes thrown in for fun. Her favorite subject is animal faces because she loves to paint their eyes and bring their essence to life on paper. And she loves finding ways to create the texture of fur and feathers in her paintings. Through her paintings, she wants to connect you to the beauty, peace, joy, and splendor of creation and invite you to “bring a little nature inside.” She also uses digitized versions of my artwork to create fine art prints, inspirational art prints, greeting cards, stickers, and more.
Art wasn’t a prominent part of Beth’s life until recently. Music was her creative outlet for most of her life, but in 2019 at the age of 55, she discovered watercolors and was hooked. She is a logic-driven thinker who discovered her artistic creative side a little later in life. But as is often said, it’s never too late to learn something new and find a new passion. So she encourages you – no matter what life phase you’re in – always keep learning and challenging yourself creatively. You just never know what you might discover and how it might change your life.
