Touching everyone and everything to one degree or another, Art is a coercive, fundamental force every bit as real yet intangible as gravity. Whether I am writing or capturing light, my best efforts are guided by the same surrendering spirit the devout bring to worship. In this way, Art, in all her manifest forms, gives witness to an emergence who says, “I Am.” If I can snare a patina of the Holy, through writing and photography, this justifies a lifetime of effort.

I came to writing and photography through the pain of serving as a local pastor. Now, having left ministry and having been diagnosed as bipolar, and suffering with PTSD, and giving my damn-best-effort to stay sober, and doing everything else I know I can do to keep off the psychiatric ward, writing and photography help me feel anchored in real life. Art renews my faith in a loving God who created a good world.
