Carol Kaminski, Greensboro, NC

Greensboro artist, Carol Kaminski, creates 3D and relief wall hangings using plaster and epoxy clay, focusing on nature and the human body.

Trained in performing and visual arts, Carol worked as a bookkeeper before pursuing a BFA in computer graphic design at Rochester Institute of Technology. Her career included graphic design and owning a virtual assistant business before returning to art.

Her interest in 3D plaster began after watching a PBS special on an artist who sculpted plaster murals. She couldn’t apprentice with him, so she decided to teach herself. She built a moveable easel in her garage but couldn’t master the technique, so she returned to oil painting. She also painted florals in colored resin for several years.

In 2021, Carol heard about a bas relief class, renewing her interest in the medium. She connected with the artist and began taking classes.

Carol now travels the East Coast and Midwest, showcasing her work at juried festivals. Her art is exhibited at her home studio in Greensboro and the Art Gallery at the Grandover Resort.
