Corneille Little, Raleigh, NC
Corneille Little has spent most of her life teaching and creating art. She works in oil, acrylic, mixed media and watercolor, and her style varies depending upon the medium she chooses to work with. Corneille’s oil paintings are soft and expressive, with a focus on pet portraits, birds and nature. Her mixed media art is primarily what she calls “painted paper collage”, in which she hand paints and stamps a variety of papers, then meticulously tears each piece to mimic the stroke of her brush. Corneille’s work has been shown in galleries in the US.
” A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song” – Maya Angelo
Similarly, I don’t necessarily paint because I have a painting, I create because it is my innate natural instinct. I am a Raleigh native, therefore much of what I paint is of and about the southeast. I have learned so much from the students that I teach, both my elementary school students and adults that come to my home studio. Although I majored in Art Education at UNC-Chapel Hill I consider myself primarily a being self taught artist. I spread my time between teaching, painting, my pets and grandchildren – so blessed!
