Soft and Whimsical Textured Paintings by Julia Hunt
Drawing on intuition and instinct, I am attempting to capture a sense of liveliness in my landscapes and still life’s through texture and movement. Quiet, subtle colors and values encourage an atmosphere of release, calm, and grounding, while the scratched-in doodles and splashes allow for a sense of play. Growing up in the mountains has given me a love for all seasons, but Spring has my heart fully with the vulnerability of the bright, striving flowers and the promise of new beginnings. Many years ago, I graduated from Roanoke College in Virginia with my Art Degree. I currently show in the Resurrection Artists Collective Gallery in downtown Asheville. I live in Black Mountain, NC, with my husband near our children and grandchildren. My husband is a private sea captain, so you may see an occasional painting that reflects when I’ve joined him on one of his adventures.
