Julia grew up in a small, sweet town in the Appalachian Mountains of rural, Southwestern Virginia. “Picking blackberries, walking through the woods, enjoying the wildflowers had a profound influence on me. I strive to create the hushed, playful feeling (while being in nature) in my art.” Julia graduated from Roanoke College with a BS in Art. My thesis was in printmaking and I use many of those techniques to create texture in my paintings. Julia lives in Black Mountain, NC, with her husband, Devon, who is a private boat captain. You may see an occasional painting from when she’s joined him on a trip.
