Creativity has always been a passion for me. While studying dance as a child I got involved making and designing dance recital costumes which led, not only to a successful career of performing throughout the US and Europe, but also an exciting life backstage as well, to working in the wardrobe departments of theaters, night clubs, movies, operas and enjoying five years on “Miami Vice”.
My next chapter of life was making one of a kind leather bags which, for 20 years, I sold at art shows.
My hands needed a rest from leather but my studio needed to be reorganized and this is where I found boxes of fabrics, yarns and decorative items. So I started (to quote Stephen Sondheim): “Bit by bit, putting it together /Piece by piece, only way to make a work of art”, and with some inspiration from my husband’s abstract art, I made a scarf. It turned out great. So here I am back at the beginning, designing and sewing decorative items to wear.
“ROUN” is actually a Middle English word meaning a secret or mystery, rumor or whisper. Wearing this beautiful scarf may make you feel mysterious like a breath of a whisper.
