Lauren Lane, a figurative and abstract painter born and raised in GA.
Light, joy, and legacy are themes consistent throughout my work. I focus on the beauty in
everyday moments and the richness of cultural legacy, depicting people in empowering,
uplifting contexts. My inspiration springs from a deep-seated belief that by transforming how
we see ourselves, we can fundamentally alter our presence and how we show up in the world.
I enjoy working in oil paint as there is butteriness to the medium that lends itself to molding the
image on the canvas. Ideas for paintings come from thoughts on things that I am experiencing
or lessons I am learning at a particular time.
My current figurative paintings focus on there being beauty during seasons of uncertainty and
waiting. And the peace that can be found in trusting the process. A season of ‘dormancy’ has
allowed room for reflection, rest, and the sowing of new seeds. These works seek to capture
and celebrate the joy and resilience that thrive even in these quiet moments of introspection.
