Hello! I’m Nancy, a self-taught mixed media artist.
In 2014, a pivotal moment reshaped my life. My husband and I embarked on the journey of parenthood, welcoming our daughter, Kali Joy, into our lives. Kali was nine when she came home and we started the journey of becoming a family. Building a family is awesome. And hard. So hard that I quit my job and decided to devote all my time to becoming a better mom.
That’s when I started to lose my mind. Amidst the chaos and beauty of parenting, I found myself yearning for a creative outlet to channel my emotions. Thus, Upcycle By Nancy was born.
With a background in printing and coating technologies, experimentation is at the heart of my artistic journey. I love exploring with different lacquer chemistries to uncover new and captivating effects. My canvas? Unwanted and discarded items that find new life under my brush. Glass, mirror, metal, and wood become the substrates for my vibrant and playful paintings.
My pieces exude brightness and joy, aiming to evoke feelings of happiness in those who view them. One of my greatest passions is painting dogs, capturing their crazy, playful essence and infusing it into my art. I am constantly humbled when someone purchases one of my paintings, knowing that it will contribute to the joy and beauty of their home for years to come.
