Tracy Booth
Roanoke, VA
Tracy has resided in the southern Appalachians for most of the past 20 years, and draws much of her inspiration from her beautiful surroundings. She received a B.S. in Botany from Virginia Tech to fulfill a desire for a deeper knowledge of the natural world, followed by many years of work theatrical lighting technician before spontaneously deciding that it was time to bring out the paints and design her own work. A self-taught artist, Tracy has been working in both oils and acrylics for the past ten years. She has combined her seemingly disjointed background into a foundation for expressing herself through shape, color, and texture. Tracy is very interested in the relationship between people and their created and natural environments, and discovering where the balance be found. Her subject matter include a range of naturally inspired landscapes and habitats. Tracy has attended classes at the Penland School of Craft, NC, and at the Ringling College of Art and Design’s Wildacres Retreat in Little Switzerland, NC. Her education continues with each painting and contact with other artists. Tracy currently resides in Roanoke, Virginia, in a house she renovated herself, with her partner and studio cat.
