With a passion for the outdoors Vivian earned a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from North Carolina State University becoming licensed as a landscape architect and has put her education to task creating more walkable and bikeable communities over the past 30 years as a city planner. Vivian, the visual artist, has been creating and selling pieces that reflect outdoor places, moods and memories through bold colors and textures. It is what she loves about painting. The spirit of wilderness, the experience of travel and a drive for creativity are Vivian’s intersection……the dot on the earth where her passion, skills and what the world needs is found. This intersection is manifest in the art she composes.
Vivian’s first painting memories were creating pieces in her grandmother’s studio. Both loved to create and enjoy the magic of her grandmother’s garden. Vivian grew up playing in the woods, fields, and creeks near her home in northwest New Jersey building a foundation for her love of the outdoors. She has traveled to many destinations throughout the world, hiking in places as distant as Nepal in the Himalayan mountains to as close as the Appalachian Trail, competing in triathlons and enjoying days on a kayak or just being in her garden. Vivian’s lived in Finland many years ago, instilling an importance to learn about different cultures.
Vivian has embraced the Alaskan and Yukon wilderness over the past twelve years, most recently working as a tour guide running sled dog teams in the extreme northern landscape where these dogs love to run and feed their purpose in life. These experiences feed Vivian’s soul as she puts paint to the canvas.
