Kevin Howard is a self-taught potter, primarily specializing in unglazed, wheel-thrown and sculpted, figural stoneware planters, each individually made at the studio on his farm in eastern North Carolina. Drawing from a background in archaeology, and lifelong interests in folk art, animation, illustration, and nature, he combines simplicity and whimsy for a modern take on classic themes. He works with over a dozen different clay bodies, highlighting the inherent beauty and diversity of clays for an earthy, cohesive collection.
